Dans ce numéro consacré à la carte blanche, les rédactrices invitées Mélanie Boucher et Geneviève Chevalier interrogent cette proposition d’exposition aux origines subversives émergente à la fin des années 1960, devenue aujourd’hui une formule répandue dans les institutions de l’art contemporain et au-delà. Fruit d’une négociation serrée entre un artiste et une institution ou acte illicite perpétré à son insu, la stratégie d’intervention se décline en de nombreuses variantes que décortiquent et analysent les contributeurs et contributrices à cette publication.

In this special issue dedicated to the Carte Blanche, guest editors Mélanie Boucher and Geneviève Chevalier question this subversive exhibition format that emerged at the end of the 1960s, and has become a widespread expression in the institutions of art. As an illicit act or as a result of a close negotiation between an artist and the institution, the strategies and variations of this type of intervention are dissected and analyzed by the contributors of this edition.
